Can you even call this a Captain's Log? That all seems like a dream now. I am stranded since days on the remote jungle planet of Rakiuron, having been betrayed to my near-death by the treacherous mercenary Talina.

This was my fault. I was drawn to her mysterious beauty, and willfully blinded myself to the truth of her intentions, until it was no longer possible to do so. As a result, I was all-too-easy to dispatch once we were alone and in a vulnerable place. But I suppose I should be thankful to be alive.

How did I survive? I still don't fully know the answer to that question. As I understand it, my former crewmate Flukas - yes, the dead one - emerged from the underbrush as I was in the final throes of death, and pointed the healing rays of my Love and Truth recorder in the appropriate direction.
It gets weirder; apparently a bunch of telepathic Rakiuroni space penguins were the ones who led him to my body. I tried to get more information from him, but he speaks in riddles, and lately with a more reckless, urgent energy. As I hike through the jungle, I often catch a glimpse of him out of the corner of my eye, stalking through the ferns like some sort of wildcat.

Finally, as the cherry atop the weirdness cake, I have met another Canalien in the depths of this jungle: Scott Livingstone, a young adventurer from my home planet of Vancouvearth. What a strange and unpredictable coincidence! I interrupted him hunting a deer one day ago, and since then we have been travelling together. I have helped him hunt food by using my interviews to blast the local (edible) wildlife, but he seems a little unimpressed with my methods.

Scott Livingstone
Scott and I were both initially going in the same direction: westward, where two days ago we witnessed a space ship crash land. In my heart of hearts, I think I know whose ship that was; that of Commander Joe, our erstwhile protector from the Crepuscular Alliance. No doubt Talina blasted his ship into the stratosphere when he least expected it.
Through all of this, I cannot help but constantly wonder: what has the mercenary Talina done with my Zeppelin? Is it in Empire hands now?

And what about my Chief Engineer, the Open Sourcerer Krolli Van Krolli, who (last I heard) was a captive of Fleet Commander Seven and the Crepuscular Alliance? Will Talina try to destroy them as well?
I wish I had some way to send Krolli a warning... but here on this planet, I am absolutely unconnected to the wider galaxy. I might as well live in the distant past, with dinosaurs and cassette tapes and stuff. All I can do is wait, and meditate on the consequences of what I have done.
