• Istanbul airport attacks

Three suicide bombers opened fire then blew themselves up in Istanbul’s main international airport on Tuesday, killing 36 people and wounding some 150. The Turkish government says it appears to have been carried out by militants from the so-called Islamic State group. Our correspondent in Istanbul Dorian Jones tells us the latest and international security expert Paul Rogers explains the wider context.

Britain’s vote to leave the European Union caused turmoil in financial markets which saw the pound falling to its lowest level in 31 years immediately following the result. The situation seems to be calming down and world stocks have rebounded slightly, but some traders and money managers warn the bounce back may not persist. Jonathan Crook, Professor of Business Economics at Edinburgh University explains what the financial turmoil means for British citizens.

FM4’s Robert Rotifer has been living and working in England for 19 years. He shares his experiences and thoughts on the pre-referendum debate and the immediate aftermath of the vote to leave the EU.

• Benghazi report

Republicans in the United States House of Representatives have concluded their two-year investigation into the 2012 attacks on a US compound in Benghazi, Libya, in which 4 Americans, including the US Ambassador Chris Stevens, died. The Obama administration was criticised for lax security and a slow response but the report found no new evidence of wrongdoing by ex-Secretary of State and White House hopeful Hillary Clinton. Political historian and author James Boys analyses the impact of the report.

Politik: Interview mit Bildungsministerin Sonja Hammerschmid
Die Zentralmatura wurde dieses Jahr zum ersten Mal flächendecken in allen AHS und BHS in ganz Österreich durchgeführt. Besonders in Mathematik, aber auch in anderen Fächern hat es viele Fünfer gegeben, es hagelt Kritik. Seit der Regierungsumbildung Mitte Mai ist Sonja Hammerschmid die neue Bildungsministerin für Österreich. Hammerschmid ist zuvor an der Spitze der Veterinärmedizinischen Uni Wien gestanden und wurde als erste Frau Rektorenchefin. Sie übernimmt ein Ressort in dem seit Jahren nur gestritten wird: Über Gesamtschule und Ganztagsschule, über Zentralmatura und Ländermitspracherecht. Wie legt Hammerschmid ihren Job an? Was sagt sie zur eben abgelaufenen Zentralmatura und wie stellt sie sich die Schule der Zukunft vor? FM4 in Serie: Animals
Es ist eine beeindruckende Sammlung von kreativen Menschen, die hinter der neuen US-Show "Animals" steht: Produziert wird die Animationsserie von den Duplass-Brüdern ("Togetherness"), Aziz Ansari ("Parks and Recreation"), Ellie Kemper ("The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt") und Cobie Smulders ("How I Met Your Mother") leihen den Charakteren ihre Stimmen. Was entsteht ist eine teils improvisierte, düstere Comedyshow, die an die Do-It-Yourself-Animationsserien der 90er Jahre erinnert. Christoph Sepin stellt "Animals" vor.

Artist of the Week: DJ Shadow
"Endtroducing....." ist der Titel des Debütalbums von DJ Shadow. Es wurde 1996 auf dem britischen Label Mo’ Wax veröffentlicht und schrieb Geschichte als erstes Album, dessen Musik ausschließlich aus Samples bestand. Auf "The Mountain Will Fall" begrüßt uns wieder die anonyme Seriosität versprühende Gastgeberstimme, wieder ein Schrei als Rhythmus setzendes Element, wieder ein dope Beat, den man stundenlang im Loop hören kann. Prickelnde Erwartung kriecht durch Adern, Venen und Synapsen: Kann es tatsächlich sein, dass DJ Shadow sein 20 Jahre altes "Endtroducing….." noch einmal gemacht hat? Dasselbe, aber nicht das gleiche - two of a kind. Christian Lehner hat DJ Shadow zum Interview getroffen und präsentiert eine Listening Session zum neuen Album.
