• Landmark events at the Summit of the Americas"

MS Seawatch
Dem Sterben von Flüchtlingen bei ihrer Überfahrt nach Europa will die Privatinitiative Seewatch etwas entgegensetzen. Ein Deutscher hat sich einen alten Fischkutter gekauft, um damit im Mittelmeer Flüchtlingen zu helfen, die in Seenot geraten sind; gerade ist Harald Höppner auf Lokalaugenschein in Italien und Malta unterwegs, in wenigen Wochen wird er mit einem Team aus Freiwilligen dort mit der MS Seawatch unterwegs sein (Veronika Weidinger)

Wie weiter mit der Vorratsdatenspeicherung?
Mit der Begründung "schwerwiegender Eingriff in die Grundrechte auf Achtung des Privatlebens und den Schutz personenbezogener Daten" hat der Europäische Gerichtshof (EuGH) Anfang April 2014 die Vorratsdatenspeicherung gekippt. Ende Juni zog der österreichische Verfassungsgerichtshof nach und erklärte die VDS für verfassungswidrig. Doch seither ist einiges passiert, allen voran die Morde in der und um die "Charlie Hebdo"-Redaktion in Frankreich, nach der die (politischen) Rufe nach der Rückholung der VDS wieder lauter wurden. Robert Glashüttner spricht mit FM4s Netzpolitik-Experten Erich Möchel darüber, wie es mit den altbekannten Forderungen nach mehr Überwachung derzeit aussieht.
