Western Sahara
Bordered by Morocco to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the west, it’s a country we often hear very little about Western Sahara should be an african saharan paradise.
But the Sahwari people there endure many challenges.
There was a war between 1975 & 1991 that displaced people from the homes. And to this day, tens of thousands still populate the Sahrawi refugee camps over the border from Western Sahara into Algeria. David Kriegleder spent time in this region and he takes up the story of Western Sahara’s decades long struggle and the legacy of this conflict today.
