Miko Peled is an Israeli-American peace activist with a unique perspective on the middle east conflict. He is the author of "The General's Son: Journey of an Israeli in Palestine". The general being referred to is Matti Peled, a pivotal figure in Israeli military and political history. Miko grew up in a family he calls "The Who's Who of Zionist Israel" and yet, his outspoken stance reflects a wholly different definition of what constitutes "Israel". Special: "Blue Monday" (Feature von Paul Nawrata)
1983 veröffentlichte die britische Band New Order mit "Blue Monday" einen bis heute funktionierenden, generationenübergreifenden Hit und außerdem die meistverkaufte Maxisingle der Welt. Bei Davidecks beleuchten wir die filmreife Enstehungsgeschichte dieses Songs.
Abgesehen davon, dass die Welt der elektronischen Musik nach dieser Veröffentlichung nie mehr die gleiche sein sollte, liegen Blue Monday musikalische Einflüsse zugrunde, die ihrerseits bereits bahnbrechend waren und es noch immer sind (Kraftwerk, Ennio Morricone, Donna Summer und einige mehr). Trotz der Millioneneinnahmen entwickelte sich Blue Monday aber innerhalb kürzester Zeit zum finanziellen Fiasko. Grund dafür war das einzigartige Coverartwork der Single: man hatte sich einfach grob verschätzt. Überhaupt ist New Order erst durch den Tod eines befreundeten Musikers entstanden und für sich schon ein Unfall der Musikgeschichte.
Blue Monday hat die Welt der Musik für immer verändert. Wie und warum das geschehen ist, erklärt der Wiener Produzent und DJ Urbs in einem zwanzigminütigen Radiofeature. Es kommt noch besser: Urbs hat mit den erwähnten musikalischen Einflüssen, die zur Entstehung des Songs geführt haben, den Song in seinem Studio akribisch nachproduziert. Ein Mash Up im Dienste der Musikwissenschaft und mitunter das beste, was Radio zu leisten imstande ist.
