• UN upgrades Palestinian status

The United Nations has voted overwhelmingly to upgrade the Palestinan status from "observer entity" to "observer state". The news is being welcomed with celebrations in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem, but in not Israel.

David Witzthum reports on Israeli reaction and why this vote comes as a very bad time for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

• The fiscal cliff

US politial and economic analyst Stephen Hill explains how Barack Obama is trying to get his own way on the "fiscal cliff" and why it should not be compared to Europe's financial problems.

• Syrian violence

Two Austrian soldiers have been injured in fighting around Damascus airport as their convoy they were tavelling in was attacked. There is also a widespread telecommunications blackout across Syria, which some people say indicates the Assad regime is about to launch a major attack on the rebel strongholds. Security analyst Paul Rogers gives his view of the latest developments and the risks that face peacekeeping forces in times of crisis.

• The missing trillions

The Tax Justice Network says betweem 20 and 30 TRILLION dollars - equal to the GDP of the United States and Japan combined - is hidden away in offshore accounts. The author of the report, James Henry, tells Joanna King how this situation has arisen and what can be done about it.

Depression
20% aller manisch-depressiven Menschen erkranken vor dem 20. Lebensjahr. Die Diagnose erfolgt in vielen Fällen erst Jahre später. Die medizinischen Erkenntnisse und die Diagnosegenauigkeit haben bei bipolaren Störungen seit den letzten 15 Jahren große Fortschritte gemacht, aber der erste Schritt muss von den Betroffenen selbst kommen. Wie erkennt man, dass man möglicherweise depressiv ist und welche Folgen hat das für das weiter Leben? Ist eine bipolare Störung heilbar? Und wer zahlt dafür. AufFM4 berichten jungen Leute über ihr Leben mit Depression, entweder weil sie selbst davon betroffen sind, oder als Angehöriger mit der Krankheit umgehen

Wer zahlt die Therapie?
In Österreich ist psychotherapeutische Hilfe, auch bei Depression, Ländersache. Entsprechend unterschiedlich sind auch die Bedingungen für „Therapie auf Krankenschein“. Daniela Derntl hat recherchiert.

Nur dass der Entzug von der körpereigenen Droge noch wesentlich extremer ist als ein klassischer Drogenentzug. 20% aller manisch-depressiven Menschen erkranken vor dem 20. Lebensjahr. Wie erkennt man, dass man möglicherweise manisch-depressiv ist und welche Folgen hat das für das weitere Leben?

Seit fünf Jahren leitet Michael die Selbsthilfegruppe "Sturzflieger" für junge Menschen, die an einer bipolaren Störung leiden. Er selbst lebt seit vielen Jahren damit, ist durch alle Hoch und Tiefs gegangen und hat darüber im Jugendzimmer erzählt. Einmal im Jahr kommt er zu Elisabeth Scharang ins Studio, erzählt, wie es in seiner Beziehung läuft, wie es ist, neuerdings Vater zu sein, ob er sich traut, einen neuen Job anzunehmen. Und er beantwortet die Fragen der HörerInnen.
