Today's Webtip: Stop Motion History
I used to hate stop motion animation. As a kid, some of the most frightening scenes I ever saw were nightmare sequences made with models and a lot of single shots. The fact that the motion never looked realistic actually made those scenes all the more terrifying.
And that is also one of the reasons I am even more fascinated by it as an adult. Now that I can actually understand the amount of work and precision that goes into making this type of clip, it's hard not to just bow down in awe in front of anyone who can even barely pull it off.
It's been a long time since the first animation was made, but it is a special effects form that has had an incredible staying power, and despite the success of completely digital animation, it even manages to make a showing as a future film these days.

There were quite a few films I wasn't familiar with in there, many of which I really want to see. And that is one good reason to head over to the Vimeo site, because there is a complete list in the information there.
