Have you ever spent much time thinking about what it means to exist?

Not in some sort of metaphysical, abstract manner, but in a very practical way?

Most people who haven't found themselves in some sort of very extraordinary circumstances probably don't have to. In the past, lack of official documentation has been something that only refugees or residents of war zones have been confronted with.

But the rise of certain religious and political movements in the west has seen an increase of completely undocumented children who find it difficult to establish themselves in society once they have left their families.

One of these children was Alecia Faith Pennington.
