Eve Online is one of those games that fascinates me, but I would never ever be able to play. So, rather than investing my time and money into it, I just kick back and treat it like a new form of fiction. Occasionally dipping into the epic tales of daring-do and epic destruction while avoiding ever having to open a spreadsheet.
That means I don't really know a lot about the details of the game, or completely understand what is going on in one of the more recent news worthy stories to come out of it. But it doesn't really matter. A good story is a good story, and this tale of the creation and deployment of the largest structure in the game has everything a good story needs.
Basically, a really nasty crew of baddies did everything they could to make sure they were the first in-game to get their hands on something almost like the death star. A feat that not only took a lot of real time and unbelievable amounts of in-game resources, but also very serious amounts of cold hard cash. That little video was just the very end part of a project that sounds seriously epic.
