Today's Webtip: Science!

You have a science lab in your pocket. Now you can use it.

Have you ever spent a few minutes to consider all of the sensors you are carrying around with you right now? Light, audio, motion acceleration, location...

Smart phones have more in common with Tricorders than Communicators. Which is cool, because as much as I wanted my very own communicator, those Tricorders just seemed sooooo much cooler.

As cool as that might be, most of those sensors are getting used for anything other than science measurements on alien planets. They aren't even really being used for science on this one. Well, sport science I guess.

But now things might change. Google has released an app called Science Journal that lets people use their smart phones for science experiments. Actually, you can even use it to connect Arduino powered sensors as well.

Google

You can find the link and some more information at a special google landing page or read their announcement that includes some useful links for teachers who might be interested in using it in their classrooms.
