Today's Webtp: ICS

Leaked documents reveal a new friendlier name for one of the things that really bothered people about TTIP.

Apparently peoples protests about the TTIP has had some sort of effect. As is frequently the case with these types of things, the result isn't quite what those protesting might have hoped for.

Remember ISDS? That was the acronym for "investor-state dispute settlement". That part of TTIP that had some people worried about the possibilities of corporations taking countries to court for legislation that they weren't fond of. Apparently some people in the European Commission became aware that it might be "the most toxic acronym in Europe" and thought it might be a good idea to do something about it.

By changing the name.

Welcome to the the new world of ICS: the investment court system. Just a rebranding? A clever way of reframing the discussion? Maybe just some cheap attempt at tricking those pesky search engines?

Maybe not. You can read all about it at www.techdirt.com
