What's behind the name, and what will Stephen Hawking have to tell us today?

So tonight is Yuri's night. Today is the International Day of Manned Space Exploration. And this afternoon, Stephen Hawking is planning to announce a new space exploration project.

I was a little surprised that none of my usual space sites had anything about the day. But I was even more surprised to see that Stephen Hawking had an announcement planned. It looks like it will have something to do with something big. There is a very wealthy individual involved, and I sort of doubt that the date is a coincidence.
