Today's Webtip: Stephanie Cegielski

The Donalds communication director dumped the Trump in an open letter to his supporters.

The Republican presidential primaries has been rather interesting. Aside form the general entertainment and media circus, there has been the constant head scratching about Donald Trump. A man who had been rather chummy with the Clintons, has long admitted to being socially liberal but fiscally conservative, and generally came across as someone who just really liked seeing his name in the media.

Part of me really thought he was just trolling.

Which, if I understand the letter his ex-communications director just posted, wasn't so far form the truth. According to her open letter to Trump supporters, the original plan was simply to run a protest campaign to get some issues out there and maybe get some brand marketing in. Apparently they were hoping for a comfortable second place.

But then things changed, and she got scared, and now she wants people to also be afraid.

I don't think I have ever seen anything like this in an election campaign. every now and then political operatives will come out decades later and explain what was really going on once they no longer had anything to lose. Like the Nixon administration official who recently admitted that the drug war was conceived to destroy political opponents and weaken minority voices.

But having a top level campaign operative step out and say don't vote for my candidate...

Interesting times, indeed.
