In November the European Union and Turkey struck a deal under which Turkey would do more to keep refugees inside the country, and would get 3 billion euros and political concessions in return. Since then, says Amnesty International, there have been worrying developments in Turkey’s treatment of people from war zones in Syria and Iraq. Amnesty’s Turkey researcher Andrew Gardner describes the situation:

Yemen’s humanitarian crisis
For nine months Yemen has been in the grip of a civil war, into which Saudi Arabia and Iran have waded, supporting opposing sides. Western governments are worried about the wider regional implications, and in the meantime conditions for civilians have become very dire indeed.
