Today's Webtip: Lemmy's gone
"Killed by Death" Paul Kraker über Lemmy Kilmister
Every now and then you run across a band, or a song, that sears itself into your memory. It sets one of those points in your life that remains as a marker. The time before, and the time after.
"Ace of Spades" was one of those songs. And Motörhead one of those bands. For me.
That might not be the best version of that track, but it is the one that caught my attention as a teen. I was a bit late to jump on the Motörhead bandwagon, but I never did jump off.
And now it's over. Sort of. Four days after his 70th birthday, and two days after learning he had cancer, Lemmy Kilmister is dead. But he is definitely not one of those who will likely be forgotten.
Today he is being remembered. By friends, fans, fellow musicians, and journalists.
