Today's Webtip: Joseph Herscher

The man who makes convoluted contraptions come to life.

It's good to have a hobby. Sometimes, if you are really lucky you can turn that hobby into a living. And sometimes, if you are even more lucky, making money off of it won't make you hate it with a passion.

Joseph Herschel seems to be pretty lucky. He has been making Rube Goldberg machines since he was a kid. And now he makes them for profit. And performance. And other peoples entertainment. And it looks like he still enjoys doing it.

Now he is a "Kinetic Artist". A description that could fit to a lot of things, and yet still mean next to nothing. Which is why it's better just to see what he does.

That was form a performance in 2013. It took him a year to develop the device, and two months to test it. His other works have been featured as part of Ars Electronica and the Venice Biennial, has been on Sesame Street (now thats a combination!) and has also started a web series.
