Today's Webtip: Star Wars Stuff

A few links for anyone thinking of doing some last-minute prep.

So, here we are again. Star Wars fans across the planet are getting ready to either pull out their pitchforks or sing the praises of the latest development in the Star Wars saga.

Ok, a few countries have already seen it. But I have my spoiler blinders on right now and won't be checking my social networking or news feeds until around 22:00 this evening.

Which means I have some time to kill. Time that could be spent doing productive things like housework or studying. Or I could do a quick re-immersion into the Star Wars universe.

Think it's too late to actually rewatch all 6 films right now?

Well, you are right. Sort of. What about watching them all at the same time? Michael McNulty popped all six into a single frame and shared the result on YouTube and it´s still available. I don't know why, but it might be worth a look if you are a capable multitasker.

For those who want a streamlined (and probably more sensible) version of the story, you might still squeeze in a sequential view and tighten up the story by watching it in Machete Order. You might have heard of it before. If not, let's just say someone really didn't like Jar Jar and decided to find a way to watch the movies in an order that made more sense from a story telling perspective. If that makes no sense to you, and you have never had to sit down and argue with someone about which order to watch the films in, read that link.

Speaking of Jar Jar...

That would be a plot-twist I could get behind.

One of the problems with the glacial development pace of the 3 trilogies (I first read about the idea there would be a total of 9 movies sometime around 1978) is that fans end up with waaaaaay too much time on their hands. Time spent combing over the information available, or spent re-interpreting what they already have.

Time to realise that the Rebels might not be so nice. And maybe the empire wasn't really such an evil thing after all.

One of the more recent interpretations that has been getting some talk time is explained in an article on decider.com.

It's called The Radicalisation of Luke Skywalker: A Jedi's Path to Jihad and the title pretty much says it all.

Now excuse me while I go try to keep myself occupied while waiting for the show tonight...
