Today's Webtip: Corporate Monopoly
Monopoly is an interesting game. Originally conceived as a way to teach the dangers of rentier capitalism, it eventually became a way for armchair capitalists to revel in the complete and utter financial destruction of their friends and loved ones.
The story of the game also provides some interesting insights into copyright law, shady business practices, and corporate lawsuits.
Now there is a new (very unofficial) version out that wants to teach you about things like regulatory capture, international trade agreements, corporate subsidies, and just how rigged the game actually is.

Corporate Monopoly is an infographic dressed up as an online board game. You play against the computer in a game that is prescript and rigged as the workers struggle against corporate political influence.
As you play you will suffer setbacks or gains altho will eventually end in financial destruction. On the way you will also find out about all sorts of interesting things, like how carbon credits resulted in the destruction of villages in Uganda
It's an interesting way of presenting some pretty heavy information. Now if it just provided links for further reading in the game...
