Today's Webtip: UNESCO
It's been 70 years now since UNESCO was formed. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization has the high minded and utterly fabulous goal of promoting peace and security. It wants to encourage sustainable development and intercultural dialog, and supports all sorts of other goals like eradicating poverty.
I could spend ages talking about all of the things they do, but then I still probably wouldn't get around to what today's webtip is about. It probably isn't one of the more glamorous projects they have, but I just discovered it and it's pretty nifty.
And it's just a list.
A list of the Immateriellen Kulturerbe in Österreich.
It's like a premed bucket list of things to check out in Austria. OK, a lot of them probably won't be easy to access as an outsider but still...

Johann Schateiner
And all sorts of forms of storytelling, dancing, dressing up, speaking and celebrating. I had never heard of the Wiener Dudler, would love to hear a Traunkirchner Mordsgschicht and I haven't even gotten to the other things that are included on the list, like knowledge and crafts.
