WADA, the World Anti-Doping Agency, has just released a report in which it accuses Russia of the systematic, state-sponsored doping of its athletes and calls for Russia to be banned from upcoming athletic events – including next year’s Rio Olympic Games. Our Moscow correspondent Charles Maynes reports on reaction from the Russian capital.

David Cameron and the EU
British Prime Minister David Cameron today made a speech in London in which he outlined his vision for reforming the European Union. His main objectives include things like guarantees for non-Euro zone members and freedom in tackling abuses of the right to free movement of people. But, as political scientist Johannes Pollak points out, EU member states already have these freedoms and guarantees.

Seaworld

Years of criticism from animal rights groups, declining audiences and now stricter Californian laws on the breeding of Orcas have all combined to force the famous Seaworld in San Diego to rethink its business model. The company now says it plan as to phase out its killer whale shows in favour of an exhibit focused on conservation. Cathy Williamson from Whale and Dolphin Conservation in the UK is not convinced.
