Today's Webtip: The Brain That Wouldn't Die

And four other B-Grade SciFi classics that you can watch now.

My parents never let me watch horror movies as a kid. Batman and Star Trek were ok, and for some reason they had no problem with The Land of The Lost, but even the least scary monster classic was a no-go.

But that's what friends are for. Well, friends and afternoon television in the 70's. While most stations were running terrible daytime soaps, one local station had a super special monster show. It ran at that special time of day after lunch but before afternoon kids programming. A time when only kids in kindergarden, mothers, and others shut out of the standard workday would be watching.

It was glorious. I got to see all of the Godzilla films, most of the fifties horror classics, and one very special film that burned itself into my mind more than any other I had ever seen before. I don't know why. I couldn't remember what it was called, and was never too certain what the story was supposed to be, but the image of a head on a workbench hooked up to wires and tubes and stuff has been with me since I was five. That and the headless body in the closet.

And now I can watch. You can watch it. We could all watch it together because it has made it in to the public domain and is available online. I even know what it is called now.

The Brain That Wouldn't Die.

It's just one of four B movie classics listed in an article on disinfo.com. They were also nice enough to include links to Mystery Science Theater 3000 sessions, which are probably worth watching if you are the type of person who likes talking to your screen.
