Today's Webtip: J.G. Ballard

A collection of radio plays based on his short stories.

Some of you might know Ballard from the film Crash. I don't know how many people have actually seen that film, but it seems to be the biggest main-stream production to come out of his stories.

Those more comfortable in the underground might be familiar with The Atrocity Exhibition a work that enjoyed a certain revival in the 80's when V. Vale reprinted the work for RE/SEARCH.

I think he does a pretty good job of explaining why Ballard grabbed my attention. But since that was Vales fault anyway, I guess it's not too surprising.

Ballard didn't just predict Reagan though. Disturbing as it might be, his rather dystopian works have envsioned quite a few modern developments. Even social networking.

For those of you who are fans, or those who might be interested but haven't had a chance to find any of his books, I ran across a lovely little fan site that has something fabulous. Radio dramas based on his short stories produced by the CBC.

Die hard fans might want to check out the interview collection as well.
