Today's Webtip: Refuge

A SciFi short shot by the light of the moon.

One of the things I have really enjoyed about developments in digital image acquisition has been improved low-light sensitivity. As someone who struggled with 3200 ISO film back in the day, current cameras capabilities never fail to astound me.

And now that sensitivity is showing up in movies. Rather than doing late seventies style day for night shots, or using a bunch a blue gels on lighting rigs, a few filmmakers have started shooting with natural night lights. Or, rather, light.

The moon.

One attempt that worked pretty well is Refuge. A science fiction short that is supposed to take place on an ex-planet somewhere far, far away.

I think the lighting is interesting, and the decent sound acting and script make it an experiment worth watching.
