Today's Webtip: World Refugee Day
Today is World Refugee Day.
A day for raising awareness of refugees, their stories, and the problems they face. A day that could be used to counter some of the misinformation and fears being propagated in media across the globe.
Of course, some people don't need a special day to do that. Remember Mr. Rosling?
But those are facts. Sometimes there are stories that need to be told. Like the stories of the refugees themselves.
The UNHCR is doing just that. They have collected and published the stories of many refugees on their site www.unhcr.org
But there are also other stories to tell. The stories of people who have done their best to help refugees. People who have opened their doors and hearts to those in need. People in Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey and Iraq who have stepped up to provide aid for some of the Syrian refugees.
You can read some of their stories in an article at www.theguardian.com, or you can follow the projects Facebook page to find more posts updates and videos.
