Today's Webtip: Hans Rosling
Despite what people say, ignorance is not always bliss.
Sometimes it is downright dangerous. Other times it gets in the way of finding solutions to very real problems. And sometimes it finds its way into places it really doesn't belong. Like universities.
Hans Rosling has decided to do something against it. With the help of lots of data, interesting maps, bubble charts and a healthy sense of humour, he has set out to clear up misconceptions about the way the world is, rather than the way we are taught it was.
That was a talk he gave at the University of Miami. It got me hooked on his presentations, and I found a whole bucketload of them to past the time and expand my mind.
He made another very interesting one for Google Zeitgeist.
