UK elections – D-day

Polling stations opened at 7 o’clock this morning across the UK in parliamentary elections which everyone agrees will be the most closely fought in history. From Scottish independence to the UK’s membership of the EU, these elections will be the basis for some extremely important decisions facing the country over the next few years. Our London correspondent Olly Barratt explains why these UK elections are so important for the rest of the world.

The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) negotiations are viewed with some mistrust by many Europeans who, amongst other concerns, fear a dilution of Europe’s consumer protection laws and a threat to Europe’s democratic traditions. Israel’s new government

Just 90 minutes before a midnight deadline last night, Israel’s prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu finally managed to form a coalition government. The coalition is dominated by hardline and religious parties which could put Israel on a collision course with the United States and doesn’t bode well for a Mid-East peace deal. Our Jerusalem correspondent, Jordana Miller reports.
