FM4-Gästezimmer: Waxahatchee
Dass MusikerInnen nicht gerne über ihre eigenen Songs sprechen, ist wahrlich keine neue Erkenntnis. Dass MusikerInnen nicht gerne über Songs anderer sprechen schon eher – vor allem wenn es sich um dezitierte Lieblingstücke und Prägendes handelt. "Can I not say why I like this one?", fragt Katie Crutchfield, als sie auf ihrer FM4-Gästezimmerliste zu den Mekons den Song "All I Want" notiert. "Sorry, I’m soooo bad talking about music", entschuldigt sie sich bei den Tall Dwarfs aus Neuseeland und "Sign On The Dotted Line", als ich sie nach dem Grund ihrer Wahl frage.

Und ewig schmerzen die 90er: Die Singer- Songwriterin Katie Crutchfield aka Waxahatchee und ihr fantastisches neues Album Ivy Tripp.
Wir sind natürlich höflich, lassen Waxahatchee ihr Gästezimmer so einrichten, wie sie möchte und freuen uns umso mehr über die feine Auswahl an großteils unbekannten und spinnerten Indie-Rock-Songs. Vieles stammt aus längst vergessenen Tagen (Red House Painters). Anderes kommt von Weggefährten, die (noch?) nicht über den Erfolgsradius von Waxahatchee verfügen (Radiator Hospital). Einzig Joni Mitchell und The Mekons fallen hier etwas aus dem Rahmen, was die Anzahl von Autogrammanfragen betrifft.
