Genocide

Ceremonies are being held in Israel on Thursday in remembrance of the 6 million Jews killed in the Nazi Holocaust, one of the largest genocides in history.

The term “genocide” has also been in the news this week in connection with the 1915 massacre of up to 1.5 million Armenians by Ottoman Turkish forces. The European parliament has voted to call it a genocide, and earlier this week Pope Francis triggered fury in Turkey by using the same term. A report by Riem Higazi on the term “genocide”.

TTIP Protests

Activists around the world will be staging events on Saturday to protest against free trade agreements like the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, known as TTIP. Elfriede Schachner from Südwind told us why:
