Today's Webtip: Reader, I Muted Him
That's the rather long title of an interesting article at themillions.com
Interesting might not be the best word to describe it, actually. Thought provoking? Enlightening?
I was most decidedly entertained, and learned quite a bit about the ways artists in various artistic fields have dealt with the modern intrusions of our interconnected experience. Something the classical community has been dealing with for a while.
But it never really thought about what kind of impact our current reality could have on literary narrative. I don't think I have ever run into a truly integrated use of modern communication outside of a Cory Doctorow novel.
But after reading Reader, I Muted Him: The Narrative Possibilities of Networked Life I don't think I will be able to get it out of my head. Not unlike a cheesy ringtone.
