Today's Webtip: Pies!
It's Pi day! And I really have no idea how to celebrate it. Other than to set a few things straight.
Most importantly, pies are not Kuchen. They are incredibly tasty pastry treats however, and something everyone whould enjoy sometime.
Unlike my friends from the Island, I'm not very experienced with savory pies, so I'm going to drop a list of really tasty sweet stuff that should be worth a little kitchen experimentation.
First up?
French Silk Pie.

The pie I have been fighting with. The one I always forget to get when I go back home. The pie that haunts my dreams...
Silky chocolate filling, whipped cream and crunchy crust hits all of the right buttons.
Apple Pie
This one is a classic, and shouldn't be all to unfamiliar to fans of the Austrian baking arts. It makes a great fall treat, and anyone who doesn't perk up at the smell of an apple pie in the oven is beyond all hope.
Just don't forget to top it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Trust me.
Pecan pie.
A southern classic that has made itself known all over the states, this one can get a little pricey round these parts, but it's a truly tasty dream. worth the money and the time if you want to treat yourself or friends.
Pumpkin Pie
You can't celebrate thanksgiving without this one, and I imagine once the folks from Steiermark get a taste of it, they'll want to give thanks as well.
Ginger, nutmeg, cloves and cardamon coem together for a taste that is one of a kind...
