I love learning about new (but actually old) musicians. Filling in the gaps in my musical education is one of those things that has fascinated me since I bought my very first LP.

How did I miss him?

A giant blind composer living and begging on the streets of NYC? Dressed as a Viking? A man who influenced the very beginnings of rock and roll, beat culture, and hippies?

The man who wrote Birds Lament?

I don't know. I guess I wasn't paying attention. But I just ran across a lovely portrait of him that has rectified the situation.
