Today's Webtip: X Minus One

Ancient radio dramas by some of the best classic science fiction writers.

The 50's were an interesting time for science fiction. It was a break-out genre at the time, and just starting to reach a mass audience.

One of the ways it did that was through magazines dedicated to the genre. Astounding and Galaxy were two of the more successful titles that provided a steady stream of short stories and serials to a hungry audience.

Those stories were written by some of the names that would eventually become giants in the genre. Names like Heinlein, Asimov and Philip K. Dick.

Some of those stories eventually made their way to the airwaves in the form of radio dramas. One of my favorite series was X Minus One, a series that ran from 1955-1958.

That series has been pretty well preserved, and you can find the files at one of the greatest sites ever: archive.org
