Today's Webtip: Lou Reed

An animated interview with the glorious grumpy guy.

Venus in Furs was one of those songs that grabbed me by the throat the first time I heard it. I had no idea what it was about, but somehow or other it seared images into my brain that are still there decades later.

Not unlike many songs by the Velvet Underground.

I don't think there is any other artist or act that led me down such a wild path of learning and exploration. Some of it very, very good. Some of it less so.

But all of it was interesting.

So I was a bit shocked to find out that Lou Reed didn't think the Velvet Underground got the recognition they deserved. I mean, I can no longer count the number of artists and musicians who consider them to have been a major influence.

I was also a bit shocked and/or amused to hear a few other things Mr. Reed let out in an animated interview based on a recording from 1987...
