The fighting is east Ukraine continues pretty much unabated despite several attempts at imposing a ceasefire. The latest such attempt took place in Berlin yesterday when representatives from Ukraine, Russia, Germany and France met and agreed to the withdrawal of all heavy weapons to a demarcation line that had been agreed upon at an earlier meeting in Minsk.

Josè Efrain Rios Montt was president of the Latin American country of Guatemala from 1982-83. His short time in office was marked by the Guatemalan Civil War and he was accused of war crimes. Bringing him to trial proved difficult but now Guatemala has become the first Latin American country to put a former dictator on trial in his own country.
