Today's Webtip: Informed Comment
I am a bit stumped. My web has been completely overtaken by links and opinions on the killings in Paris, my inner voice is screaming, and I am afraid a new wave of stupid is about to break on us.
But I don't know what to do. Other than read moar.
So I thought it might be worth sharing some of the more useful reading I have come across.
Juan Cole is someone I have had in my feed-reader for ages. I don't always agree with his perspective, but I do value his writing and what he has been able to bring to the public discourse. Mr. Cole is an author and professor at the University of Michigan, and his blog has helped make him one of the people other journalists go to for comment and analysis of current situations.
On his blog www.juancole.com he has posted a few articles since the shootings, but there is one that I find particularly valuable:
Sharpening Contradictions: Why al-Qaeda attacked Satirists in Paris
