Have you ever had one of those living int the future moments?

I did. Yesterday. Decades of Sci-fi and cyberpunk fandom came crashing down on me after learning about a Japanese pop star.

Virtual pop stars are nothing new. Performing Holograms have made the big-time with the Gorillaz and virtual Tupac. But Hatsune Miku is something different.

Rather than being a top down product of consumption she and other vocaloids are more of a platform for pop production. A situation that makes the creation of fan-art a central aspect of the thing.

But I don't want to explain it to you. I would rather let someone else do that.
