Prospects for peace
After months of nothing but doom, gloom and war, today there are two potential glimmers of hope on the horizon, one in Ukraine, and one in Gaza. Whether either develops into a sustainable solution remains to be seen, but at least there seems to be some political will.
Poroshenko promises peace "roadmap"
Following talks with Russian President Putin in the Belarusian capital, Minsk, Ukraine's President, Petro Poroshenko, says a "roadmap" will be drawn up to end fighting between Ukrainian troops and pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine.

However, as the talks were taking place, a small group of Russian soldiers were captured near Donetsk. According to Moscow, they had "accidentally" crossed the border.

Long term ceasefire for Gaza
After 7 weeks of fighting, and several attempts at cease fires, Israeli and Palestinian leaders have agreed a truce. Middle East analyst, Michael Lüders, looks at the terms of the deal, and the chances of a lasting peace being achieved.
