There have been long-running investigations surrounding Sarkozy, focusing on possible illegal financing of his election campaign.

The Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy is reported to be facing preliminary charges in connection with a corruption investigation. He’s suspected of having tried to influence a magistrate to get information about a probe into possible illegal funding of his election campaign in 2007. Hugh Schofield reports from Paris:
