Russian president, Vladimir Putin, is in Vienna today for a controversial visit that has attracted criticism from a number of EU members.

After many heads of state went out of their way to avoid Putin at the D-Day memorials, they are angry that Austria is proceeding with trade talks at a time when the EU is considering further sanctions against Moscow.

Analyst, Gerhard Mangott, explains why the visit is going ahead, and why talking to Putin and understanding the Russia viewpoint is the way forward.
