Today's Webtip: BLDGBLOG

A slightly different look at architecture, culture and history.

As a teen I had no access to what became the internet. My information addiction was fueled by record stores, comic shops, fanzines, used book sellers, BBs's, and rare book sellers.

It was a world viewed through the eyes of William Burroughs, J.G. Ballard, Vonnegut and P.K. dick. The soundtrack was provided by thirty second hardcore tracks and droning mixes of raw machinery. Academia, alternative history, philosophy and occultism was thrown in a blender and the result splashed across my brain.

And RE:SEARCH publications did a fabulous job of packing it all together and giving me even more hints and inspirations for things I absolutely had to see. I'm still stumbling across references and connections to things I only vaguely comprehended back then, and each new discovery is like placing another piece in a puzzle, except the picture itself changes as a result.

I'm telling you about this because of a blog I recently discovered. One which not only dropped a lot of pieces into that puzzle, but felt like a grown up version of those ancient resources.

BLDGBLOG is so much more than an architecture blog. It's a window into a parallel universe.
