In Moscow, President Putin has recognised the newly elected President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, and seems to have withdrawn his support from separatists in Eastern Ukraine.

Mark Lowen reports from the eastern city Donetsk on the latest developments as separatists battle against the Ukranian government forces.
