Iraq facing a "mortal threat"

The country faces a “mortal threat” after the fall of the city of Mosul to Al-Qaeda inspired fighters, according to the foreign minister. Most of the city was seized on Tuesday in a major assault by militants known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIS, who took control of government buildings and pushed out security forces. Thousands of people have fled and questions are being raised about Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki’s ability to maintain control. International Security analyst Shashank Joshi:
