Today's Webtip: United States of Secrets
Edward Snowden might have gotten the world's attention with his release of NSA documents, but he wasn't the first to try. The Program, as it is referred to by the NSA and Whitehouse, actually met a surprisingly large amount of resistance. Resistance that was met with an equally, if not greater amount of repercussions.
The PBS series Frontline has produced a show on the subject, a show that makes it quite clear why Edward Snowden might not have thought it a good idea to go the official route in making his issues with The Program known.
The first two hour show of a two part series was aired last Tuesday. That airing was followed by a live chat with Guardian US national security editor Spencer Ackerman, United States of Secrets producer Mike Wiser and NSA whistleblower Kirk Wiebe.
The program itself can be viewed here.
