Today's Webtip: Here There be Tygers
Sergei Bondarchuk won an Oscar for best foreign film for his eight hour adaptation of War and Peace. This led him to L.A. where he was invited to a party full of hollywood legends who wanted to shake his hand. But who did Sergei want to meet? Ray Bradbury. A man Sergei held to be America's greatest genius.
He wasn't the only Russian film maker who held him in high esteem. Several films were made based on Bradbury's works, including a couple of animated shorts. One, by Vladimir Samsonov was based on Here There Be Tygers.
For a particularly creepy look into cold war fears, check out this adaptation of There Will Come Soft Rains by Nazim Tyuhladziev.
