Today's Webtip: Outlining
How do you write?
Do you have any processes or tools that you fall back on?
I do. I love outlines. An outlining app is one of the few things I still miss from my old Palm Pilot. I use outlines for brainstorming, for organizing projects, and for writing papers and longer articles.
I have tried to teach my kids about outlining, but haven't had much success so far. I keep hoping it will be taught in school, but judging by their writing instruction thus far, I'm not going to hold my breath.
Daniel Wessel has the first german language work on using content outlines I have ever stumbled across. That's mostly due to the fact that I do most of my productivity reading in English. Actually, Daniel's blog is in English, do I was a little surprised to find a link to his german text on academic writing.
It's a handy starting point for anyone interested in technical tips and strategies for writing. Although the title might lead one to believe it's all about the outline, there is plenty about using a digital workflow, doing research and organizing notes as well.
