Yes, the sharing thing is catching on all over the place. And when I say sharing, I don't mean the NYT abuse of the word Sharing Economy to describe for-profit rent-seekers. I mean open and accessible transfer of information.
Like designs. Or, in the case of today's webtip, furniture designs.

Some of these things are actually going to be pretty hard to make unless you have already found your way into a group of maker types. Most people probably don't have easy access to milling machines and laser cutters.
But there are a few plans that can be done by anyone with a will, and the article lists lots of resources for further exploration. All you have to do is go there.
