Today's Webtip: Granny don't Surf
Time is strange. Especially when it comes to popular culture. Some things spend ages in the underground, ocassionally show up as a human interest story on news broadcasts only to disapear for a few decades until it eventually finds it way into the mainstream.
In terms of music that would make edm the sound of parents with college age kids, punk the music of the grandparents (many of whom moved on to electronic) and those hippies are getting into the multiple great grandparent stage.
Extreme sports are even better. Take skateboarding for example. It started sometime in the 1940's in California. By the 60's it had it's first pro skaters, competitions and even a regular television program.
This is what the Hobie skatboard team was doing on Thanksgiving Day 1964
And this is what the womens skateboard champion was capable of in 1965
How about some coverage of a competition
Or the Makaha team from 1965
and to round it all up, Skater Dater. A short film from the same year
