Today's Webtip: NSA news

Potential proof of leaky Windows and a glimmer of hope from Bruce Schneier.

First, the bad news. It looks like the NSA has been able to access Windows machines for quite some time. That's not really news, and anyone who remembers the trusted computing push from a view years ago will probably have to fight back a few "I told you so's". The big news is the proof as well as the fact that it might be possible to turn the tables.

Telepolis has the details.

The good news?

Bruce Schneier has begun working with the Guardian, pouring over the Snowden documents. He thinks there still might be a way to regain some degree of security against state snooping. I think this is the first article about possible defence that has been written by a security type who has actually seen the bulk of the information.
