Another Friday of Anger

I believe society has a right to defend itself, just as the individual has the right to attack that with which he disagrees.

Good old Mr. Mahfouz. I wonder what he would make of the violence which took over 600 lives and left thousands injured in his beloved Cairo streets.
Egypt is now facing the aftermath of clashes that left hundreds dead and demonstrators plan to defy an emergency order and take to the streets today in yet another "Friday of Anger."

Turning Japanese

Shin-Okubo is the neighbourhood in Tokyo that is also known as "Little Korea" and it's where people go for great food and to hear the pulsing beat of K-Pop blasting out of every shop, stall, and passing car. It's also been the setting for ugly confrontations between its large ethnic Korean community and Japanese far-right activists.
Japan, politically speaking, is moving toward the right.
