A Slight Exaggeration?
FM4 has been following the ongoing story of the so-called Votivkirche Refugees, the group of men who marched from Traiskirchen to the Votivkirche to bring awareness to the plight of refugees trying to seek asylum in Austria. The Votivkirche Refugees became the Servitenkloster Refugees when they were evacuated to a monastery in central Vienna.
The most recent chapter in the refugees' story involved the recent hasty deportation of eight men.
When criticised about the deportations, Interior Minister Johanna Mikl Leitner claimed that some of the refugees were part of a brutal human trafficking ring.
Falter journalist Florian Klenk decided to investigate that claim and he told me that he found a completely different story. You can listen to my interview with him below or you can read the interview here.
